We're a mobile, in-home dog training team serving the Greater Sacramento area. We come to your house and your neighborhood — because that's where your dog's behavior actually happens, and a dog who only listens in a training facility isn't ready for your real life. We've been training dogs and coaching their families here since 2012.

Most People Call Us Saying "My Dog Is Aggressive"

Usually, they're not. What most owners are describing is reactivity — barking at strangers, lunging at dogs on a walk — and reactivity is a dog reacting to a feeling, not a dog trying to hurt someone. That distinction changes the entire plan. Sorting out which one you're actually dealing with is the first thing we do, and it's the first thing a lot of programs skip.

Why Sacramento Owners Work With Us

We figure out the problem before we pick a program. Cookie-cutter curriculums fail on behavior cases — we've seen it over and over. Is it the dog? Is it what the dog has learned? Is it a mismatch between the plan and the household? Was the last trainer teaching sit, down, and stay to a dog whose actual problem was fear? Those get different answers, so we ask before we start.

If you've worked with someone else, we want the whole story. Who did you work with? What did they have you doing? What helped, what didn't, and — honestly — did you like them? That last question matters more than people expect. If an owner didn't connect with their trainer, they were never going to do the work between sessions, and no plan survives that. It usually isn't that training failed. It's that the fit did.

Four trainers, four different people. We're not interchangeable and we don't pretend to be. Jade doesn't use training tools, and she's who we hand you to for puppy foundations or scent work if your dog loves to sniff things out and you want to turn that into a game. Alex is structured and logical — consistent schedules, clear expectations, updates you can set your watch by. Mitch works out of Davis and builds foundations through clear communication in low-stress environments, with a real feel for how a dog fits into the whole household. Terra is the problem-solver for the strange, specialized, nobody-knows-what-this-is cases. Credentials are one kind of proof. Titles are another. Alex is a regional level 3 competitor in obedience and IGP, the protection sport formerly known as Schutzhund, and has titled dogs in it. There's no certification in that world — the titles are the credential, earned by putting a dog in front of a judge and proving what it can do. Jade holds titles on her dogs as well. Terra is a Licensed Family Dog Mediator® and a Certified Trick Dog Instructor, though most of her titling energy goes into client dogs rather than her own. Some dogs can't be titled, and that's fine too — but a title is real evidence of what a trainer can get done with a dog, and it's worth weighing alongside any certificate.

Devoted looks like an ordinary Tuesday. A client texts about a paw and we swing by to look at it. A dog is slipping on the hardwood and we come sort out the floors. We put clients on group walks next to other clients working through the same thing, because sometimes the most useful thing we can hand someone is another owner who gets it. None of that shows up on an invoice.

We tell you the truth, even when it costs us the sale. If a two-week board and train won't fix your dog's reactivity, we say so. If your dog needs a veterinary behaviorist rather than a trainer, we refer you out. If we don't believe we can help, we don't take your money. And our pricing is public on every program page — no mystery quotes, no pressure call.

We don't wear a training label. Terra is a Licensed Family Dog Mediator® trained in Kim Brophey's L.E.G.S.® framework — Learning, Environment, Genetics, and Self. We're a coaching relationship, not a drop-off service — even our board and train ends with teaching you. If you're looking for someone to hand your dog back fixed while you stay out of it, that isn't us. What Progress Actually Looks Like
