Hello, Midtown
Midtown Dog TrainingDog Training Midtown Sacramento
City dogs live close to everything: neighbors through the wall, bikes on the sidewalk, other dogs three feet away on Q Street. Our dog training in Midtown Sacramento happens where your dog actually lives, in your apartment, condo or house and out on your own block. No travel fee, no kennel, no driving across town.
The whole dog, on your block
How our dog training works in Midtown Sacramento
Every dog starts with a look at the whole picture: their history, health, home and the people they live with. We use a whole-dog approach and lead with rewards. We come to your home, then take the training outside to the sidewalks, patios and corners your dog deals with every day.
What we work on most in Midtown:
- Loose-leash walking past bikes, scooters and crowded sidewalks
- Calm passes with other dogs at close range
- Barking at hallway and door noises when you share walls
- Settling on a patio or brewery floor
- Elevator, stair and lobby manners

Speak Dog Saturday at Leash and Collar
Leash and Collar at 1901 Q Street is our favorite dog boutique in Midtown, and the home of Speak Dog Saturday. Once a month we set up in the shop and give free 30-minute sessions with a trainer. Bring a question, or work on one behavior with your dog right there.
- Sign up ahead of time and fill out the short intake form.
- If your dog is very over-threshold around people or dogs, leave them home. Come on your own and bring a video.
- Stay and shop. Patty and her team know their stuff.

Where we train in Midtown
Most of our Midtown training happens in your home, because that's where your dog's habits live. If you'd rather meet out, we can start at Leash and Collar and work the blocks around Truitt Bark Park, across the street at 19th and Q. Walking past the fence with dogs playing on the other side is great practice for staying calm around other dogs, without throwing your dog into the park itself.

Good questions
Midtown dog training FAQs
Do you charge a travel fee to come to Midtown?
No. Midtown is inside our service area, so there's no travel fee. We come to your home and train on your own block.
Can you train my dog while I'm at work?
Yes. With Furtastic House Rules, a trainer works with your dog at home or out on an adventure while you're gone. We set up how we get in (a key, a hidden key or a door code) at your Behavior Consultation. You get a written report or video guide the same day.
My dog barks at every hallway noise. Can training help in an apartment?
Yes, and an apartment is the best place to work on it, because that's where it happens. We train in your home, around the real sounds your dog reacts to, and we give you a plan to practice between sessions.
What is Speak Dog Saturday?
It's a free 30-minute session with one of our trainers at Leash and Collar on Q Street, once a month. Sign up ahead and fill out the short intake form. You can bring your dog, or come on your own with a video if your dog is very over-threshold in public.
