Dog Trainers That Know La Riviera

La Riviera is home — literally. This is the neighborhood Wholistic Canine lives and works in, tucked along the American River between the levee and La Riviera Drive. It's a quiet, walkable pocket of Sacramento with a rhythm all its own: neighbors who know each other, dogs on every block, and Crawford's Barn standing at the corner of Tiber and Linda Rio like it has for generations. Larchmont Community Park is where you'll find us training more than anywhere else in the city, and the gravel levee trail is a local treasure — the cutoff fence keeps the through bike traffic out, so it's mostly locals, dogs, and river air.

All of that makes La Riviera a wonderful place to raise a dog — and a genuinely useful place to train one. We work with La Riviera dogs and their families right where they live: the daily walk to Larchmont, the levee at whatever distance your dog can handle, Glenbrook Park down La Riviera Drive, and the front door where the doorbell sends everyone into a frenzy. Crawford's Barn is a private park — but train with us and it becomes part of your dog's world too: our clients get to work there with us, and it's where our Group Pack Walks meet. If you've ever spotted a trainer with bright pink, purple, or blue hair working a dog around here — that's Terra. Whatever your dog is working through — reactivity, anxiety, puppy foundations, or everyday manners — we meet you where you are, in the neighborhood we call home.

La Riviera Dog Training FAQs

Do you really train in La Riviera?

This one's easy — we live here. La Riviera is Wholistic Canine's home neighborhood, and you'll see us training here more than anywhere else in Sacramento. If you've spotted a trainer with bright pink, purple, or blue hair working a dog near the levee — hi, that's Terra.

Where do sessions happen?

We start in your home, where the real behavior lives — then take it to the neighborhood your dog walks every day: the quiet streets off La Riviera Drive, the parks, and the levee trails along the American River.

Where are good places to practice with my dog in La Riviera?

Larchmont Community Park is where we train more than anywhere else in the city — open space and everyday distractions at whatever distance your dog can handle. Glenbrook Park down La Riviera Drive gives you another option, and the gravel levee trail is a local secret: the cutoff fence keeps the through bike traffic away, so your dog can work around calm, local activity. And here's a perk of training with us: Crawford's Barn at Tiber and Linda Rio is a private park — but as our client, you get to train there with us. It's one of the quietest, most controlled spaces in the neighborhood, and it's where our Group Pack Walks meet.

About your trainers: La Riviera training is led by Terra Ruiz, Licensed Family Dog Mediator® — working professionally with Sacramento dogs since 2012, right here in the neighborhood she calls home.

“Terra is wonderful. Thankfully, I was referred to her when we rescued our German Shepherd. I am so very grateful for her guidance. Terra is very knowledgeable and experienced. She taught me how to be consistent and clear with my expectations. Our sweet pup is thriving, and does great both on and off leash. She has been able to enjoy many summer adventures with us because she behaves so well.”
