The whole dog, on your block
How our dog training works in Elk Grove
Every dog starts with a look at the whole picture: their history, health, home and the people they live with. We use a whole-dog approach and lead with rewards. We come to your home, then take the training out to your block, your neighborhood park and the trails along Laguna Creek.
What we work on most in Elk Grove:
- Loose-leash walking on the Laguna Creek Trail, with bikes, walkers and wildlife
- Calm passes along the outside of the dog park fences
- Reactivity and leash manners in your neighborhood
- Puppy foundations and socialization in your home and neighborhood
- Aggression, anxiety and tougher behavior cases, starting with a Behavior Consultation
- Everyday manners: jumping, pulling, door-dashing

Dog trainers that know Elk Grove
More than 55 Elk Grove families have trained with us.
Elk Grove has dog parks all over town. Elk Grove Park at 9950 Elk Grove-Florin Road has an agility course and a doggy fountain. Laguna Community Park at 9014 Bruceville Road is right in the middle of town, and Morse Community Park and Oasis Park both have separate areas for small and large dogs.
All that running and barking is a lot for a reactive or anxious dog, which makes the outside of the fence a great place to practice at the distance your dog can handle.

On the trail
Laguna Creek & the leash rules
The Laguna Creek Trail winds through Elk Grove along the creek, with easy access from parks like Del Meyer Park on Elk Grove-Florin Road and Jack E. Hill Park. Dogs are welcome on leash.
The shade, the creek and the wildlife make it great practice for loose-leash walking and impulse control. If your dog loses their mind at birds, squirrels or passing bikes, that's exactly the kind of real-world training we do.
Home first, then the neighborhood
Where we train in Elk Grove
Most of our Elk Grove training happens in your home, because that's where your dog's habits live. From there we take it to your block, your neighborhood park, the outside of the dog park fence and the Laguna Creek Trail. Walking past the fence with dogs playing on the other side is great practice for staying calm around other dogs, without throwing your dog into the park itself.
When your dog is ready, we take the work to busier places, so the calm you build at home holds up out in the real world.

What our clients say
Prompt, friendly yet professional, organized, and general good vibes. I only had the consultation session for behavior mod with Terra, but I can tell she cares a lot about her clients. She is able to cater to your individual dog and your individual goals; dog training isn't black and white, and this versatility (“train the dog - or owner - in front of you”) is a sign of a good trainer imo. I come in with a decent knowledge of training and I am pretty critical about which trainers I trust because of a bad experience that left my dog reactive, and so far I've only seen green flags for Terra. I would definitely work with her again!

Elk Grove dog training FAQs
Do you really train in Elk Grove?
Yes. More than 55 Elk Grove families have trained with us. We come to your home, then take the training out to your neighborhood.
Do you charge a travel fee to come to Elk Grove?
No. Elk Grove is in our service area, and there's no travel fee anywhere in our service area.
Who will train my dog in Elk Grove?
We match every family with the trainer who fits their dog best. Alex is the member of our team closest to Elk Grove, and Terra works with Elk Grove families too.
Do you train inside Elk Grove's dog parks?
Usually not. Off-leash dog parks can be a lot for many dogs, so we train outside the fence first, where we can control the distance. Your dog learns to stay calm with dogs playing nearby, and you decide later whether the dog park is a good fit.

Do you offer boarding or board and train near Elk Grove?
